Description
The Chamaerops Humilis ‘Vulcano’ is a highly exclusive palm species native to the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, which inspired its nickname, ‘Vulcano’. Known for its compact growth and strong, glossy leaves with a silvery sheen, this palm has a unique, almost bonsai-like appearance. Unlike its relative, the Chamaerops Humilis, the ‘Vulcano’ has denser foliage, shorter leaves, spined petioles, and it flowers more readily.
This palm thrives in sunny, bright spots and requires well-drained soil. It tolerates heat and drought well but benefits from regular watering during hot summers. Hardy to –10°C, the Chamaerops ‘Vulcano’ can be grown in containers or directly in the ground. For temperatures below –10°C, some frost protection is recommended. Thanks to its slow, compact growth, it makes an excellent tub or patio plant, adding a touch of Mediterranean charm to your space.
